Sisi Kaiserin - Highlights & Chocolate in Vienna

Un nuovo post sul blog finalmente! E' passato più di un anno!!!
Questa volta ho deciso di scrivere un post su alcuni highlights e alcuni prodotti legati a Sisi, che potete comprare se visiterete Vienna. Sono stata a Vienna lo scorso Agosto e la città mi è piaciuta davvero tanto e adesso che un mio caro amico è lì, probabilmente la visiterò ancora molto presto!!
Inutile da dirsi, sono molto affezionata a "Sisi", come veniva chiamata l'Imperatrice d'Austria, e visitare il suo palazzo e i suoi appartamenti è stata una grande esperienza. Come saprete, Sisi ne ha passate molte ed ha avuto una vita non così tanto felice, era molto diversa dalla versione cinematografica di Romy Schneider. Ammirare i suoi ritratti, vedere i suoi oggetti personali e sapere di più riguardo la sua vita è stato molto toccante.

A new post on the blog at last! More than a year has passed!!!
This time I've decided to write a post about some highlights and some products related to Sisi, that you can purchase if you'll be visiting Vienna. I was in Vienna last August and I really liked the city and now that a dear friend of mine is there, I'll probably visit again soon!!
Needless to say, I'm very fond of "Sisi", as the Empress of Austria was called, and visiting her palace and her rooms was quite an experience. As you may know, Sisi went through a lot of struggles and a not-so-happy life, she was very different from Romy Schneider's cinematographic rendition of her. Watching her portraits, seeing her belongings and getting to know more of her life was very touching.
In these pictures you can see Sisi's rooms inside the Hofburg.

Anche il famoso ritratto con l'"abito delle stelle" è custodito all'Hofburg, insieme a una replica dell'abito dell'incoronazione, ma sfortunatamente le foto non erano permesse.

 Even the most famous portrait with the "star dress" is kept at the Hofburg, along with a replica of the coronation dress but, unfortunately pictures were not allowed.

L'altra "casa" di Sisi era il meraviglioso Schloss Schonbrunn, il luogo che mi ha completamente rubato il cuore. Un palazzo con più di 1400 stanze, un'orangerie, infiniti giardini con rovine romane, fontane e adesso anche uno zoo! In cima alla collina si erge la Gloriette, un monumento voluto da Maria Teresa, la madre di Marie Antoinette, per celebrare il potere degli Asburgo. Da lì si può godere di una bellissima vista. Dicono che quando Sisi si trovasse a Schonbrunn, fosse solita fare allenamento tutti i giorni, correndo dal palazzo alla Gloriette più di una volta!

Sisi's other "home" was the stunning Schloss Schonbrunn, the place that definitely stole my heart. A palace with more than 1400 rooms, an orangery, huge gardens with roman ruins, fountains and now even a zoo! On the top of the hill there's the Gloriette, a monument wanted by Maria Theresa, Marie Antoinette's mother, to celebrate Hasburg power. From there, you can enjoy a beautiful view. They said that when Sisi was at Schonbrunn, she used to work out everyday, running from the palace to the Gloriette more than once!

 ...MA se siete golosi come me, non potete perdervi QUESTI! Dalla tavoletta di cioccolato più a buon mercato che potete trovare da Billa per esempio, al dolcissimo Sissi Taler di Heindl, un cioccolatino con marzapane e albicocca! Il mio preferito!
Dolci di lusso da Gerstner, la pasticceria Imperiale e una delle più famose di Vienna. I prodotti di Sisi sono tutti a base di violette candite, le preferite dell'Imperatrice!
E per finire, una bella tazza di te di Demmers Teehaus, ovviamente al gusto di tartufo al cioccolato!

...BUT if you have a very sweet tooth like me, you can't miss THESE! From the "cheapest" chocolate bar, that you can find at Billa for example, to the sweetest Sissi Taler by Heindl, a chocolate praline with marzipan and apricot! This is my favourite!
Luxury treats by Gerstner, the Imperial confectioner and one of the most famous patisseries in Vienna. Sisi's products are all made with candied violets, the Empress' favourites!
Lastly, a nice cup of tea, chocolate truffle flavour of course!
