Ecco la entry riguardante la mostra "Sherlock Holmes - The man who never lived and will never die"! Ha aperto i battenti al Museum of London lo scorso 17 Ottobre, ero molto contenta perché amo tantissimo Sherlock Holmes e tutti gli adattamenti che hanno fatto/stanno facendo. Inoltre, sono parecchio appassionata della serie BBC Sherlock e sapevo che alcuni oggetti scenici originali sarebbero stati esposti lì :) Non potevo perdere quest'occasione!
Il prezzo è 12£ (con donazione) e la mostra chiuderà il 15 Aprile 2015. Le foto sono, ancora una volta, vietate.

Sherlock Holmes & Wedding Dresses

Here's the entry about "Sherlock Holmes - The man who never lived and will never die" exhibition! It opened at the Museum of London on October 17, I was so happy because I really love Sherlock Holmes and all the screen adaptations they made/are making. Besides, I'm very fond of BBC Sherlock and I knew some original props would have been displayed there :) I could not miss this chance!
Admission is 12£ (with donation) and the exhibition will close on April 15, 2015. Pictures are, once again, forbidden.

Come ho già detto per l'altra mostra, non pensate ad una mostra grandissima, ma se vi piacciono Sherlock Holmes e Arthur Conan Doyle l'apprezzerete molto! Per entrare alla mostra, si deve sgattaiolare attraverso un passaggio segreto tra alcune librerie! Una volta dentro, sarete accolti dai tantissimi adattamenti di Sherlock Holmes su degli schermi appesi ai muri: Rupert Everett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Downey Junior, Jeremy Brett e molti altri (devo dire che questa parte era parecchio affollata!). A seguire, iniziava la parte dei manoscritti, con scritti di Edgar Allan Poe, che ha dato il via all'idea del detective privato nel suo racconto breve: "I Delitti della Rue Morgue". Dentro diverse teche erano esposti i lavori di Arthur Conan Doyle e alcuni dei suoi oggetti personali, come la tabacchiera e i sigari (i suoi tratti distintivi!). Un'altra parte della mostra riguardava Londra e la periferia, dove Sherlock Holmes ha seguito molti dei suoi casi e ha usato le sue reti di aiutanti. Molto ben rappresentata anche la Londra avvolta dalla nebbia, ho persino cercato in negozio la riproduzione di una bellissima mappa della città, che ho visto durante il giro, ma sfortunatamente non era disponibile! :(

L'ultima parte riguardava Sherlock Holmes, maestro del travestimento e tutte le sue abilità (e carenze), anche la sua dipendenza da droghe. Di Sherlock BBC erano esposti: "The Wall of Rats" dall'episodio "La Bara Vuota", una delle vestaglie da camera e soprattutto il cappotto e la sciarpa di Sherlock (ero in adorazione! XD)

As I already said for the other exhibition, don't think about a big exhibition but, if you like Sherlock Holmes and Arthur Conan Doyle you will really appreciate it! You have to sneak in a secret passage among bookshelves for entering the exhibition! Once you're in, you will be welcomed by many adaptations of Sherlock Holmes on screens hanging on the walls: Rupert Everett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Downey Junior, Jeremy Brett and many others (I have to say that this part was very crowded!). Then, the manuscripts part began, with works by Edgar Allan Poe, who started the idea of a private detective in his short story: "The Murders in the Rue Morgue". In different cases, works by Arthur Conan Doyle and some of his personal belongings were displayed, such as his snuffbox and his cigars (his distinguishing features!). Another part of the exhibition was about London and the suburban area, where Sherlock Holmes has followed some of his cases and used his networks of helpers. Foggy London was very well portrayed, I also looked in the shop for a replica of a beautiful map of the city that I saw during the tour but, unfortunately, it wasn't available! :(
The last part was about Sherlock Holmes, master of disguise and all his skills (and shortcomings), even his drugs addiction. From BBC Sherlock these props were displayed: "The Wall of Rats" from the episode "The Empty Hearse", one of the dressing gowns and especially Sherlock's coat and scarf (I was in admiration XD)

Che posso dire? La mostra mi è piaciuta davvero un sacco! :) Se ne avete occasione andate a vederla! Inoltre, non perdete la Victorian Walk del Museo (potete trovare alcune foto in quest'album, quando ho visitato il Museo nel 2013 Museum of London). 

Dopo la mostra sono volata al Madame Tussaud's, il famoso museo delle cere perché il giorno precedente avevano rivelato Cumberwax (XD)! E' stata una giornata tutta Sherlock! :)

What can I say? I enjoyed this exhibition a lot! :) You shall go and visit it if you have the chance! Also, don't miss the Victorian Walk of the Museum (you can find some pics in this album, when I visited the Museum in 2013 Museum of London). 

After the exhibition I rushed to Madame Tussaud's, the famous wax museum, because Cumberwax (XD) had been revealed the day before! It was a really Sherlockian day! :)

Wedding Dresses@V&A Museum

Bonsoir my Victorians!

Come ormai già saprete, settimana scorsa ero a Londra e ho potuto visitare, tra le altre cose, due mostre! Questa entry riguarderà la mostra degli abiti da sposa al Victoria & Albert Museum, ma prima di tutto, vi mostro gli stupendi papaveri attorno alla Torre di Londra, più di 888.000 papaveri di ceramica rappresentanti i soldati britannici morti nella Prima Guerra Mondiale. Una vista bellissima, ma allo stesso tempo commovente!

As you may know last week I was in London and I was able to visit, among other things, two exhibitions! In this entry I'll write about the Wedding Dresses Exhibition held at the Victoria & Albert Museum but, first of all I'll show you the beautiful poppies around the Tower of London, more than 888.000 ceramic poppies representing British soldiers who died in WWI. A great and moving view!

Parlando ora della mostra, posso dire che mi è piaciuta e ho visto alcuni pezzi che non sapevo nemmeno fossero lì, per esempio gli abiti di Dita Von Teese e Gwen Stefani. I vestiti più antichi si trovavano al piano terra e alcuni erano davvero fantastici (specialmente quelli di epoca vittoriana erano i miei preferiti! Qualche dubbio? XD). Gli abiti moderni erano al piano di sopra, con creazioni di stilisti famosi tra cui Vivienne Westwood e John Galliano. Sfortunatamente, le foto non erano permesse e sono riuscita solamente a fare una foto dell'abito di Dita dall'esterno. L'ho sempre adorato, è un taffetà cangiante con un cappello a tricorno coordinato e scarpe di Christian Louboutin. Tristemente, il matrimonio non è durato a lungo :/ vi ricordate chi era lo sposo? Marilyn Manson!

Speaking of the exhibition now, I can tell that I liked it, and I saw some pieces that I didn't know were there, for example Dita Von Teese's and Gwen Stefani's dresses. Ancient dresses were on the ground floor and some of them were really amazing (especially those of the Victorian Era were my faves! Any doubt? XD). Modern dresses were upstairs, with creations from famous designers, such as Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano. Unfortunately, pictures weren't allowed and I was only able to take a pic of Dita's dress from outside. I've always loved it, it's a shimmering taffeta with a matching tricorn hat and Christian Louboutin's shoes. Sadly, her marriage didn't last long :/ do you remember who was the groom? Marilyn Manson!

Un altro bel vestito è stato quello di Gwen Stefani. E' bianco con sfumature rosa, anche le sue scarpe (di Dior) erano rosa! Poi, c'erano molti altri abiti, in diversi colori e forme, con strascichi e perline e gioielli! Ho visto l'abito di Kate Moss e anche quello di Camilla Parker Bowles. Sembra una tunica, molto sobrio ma elegante.

Se vi piace la moda e amate gli abiti da sposa questa può essere la mostra per voi, ma attenzione se pensate che sia molto grande, in realtà non lo è (io l'ho girata con calma in mezz'ora, massimo 40 minuti) e l'entrata costa 13.50£. Chiude il 15 Marzo 2015.

Another great dress was Gwen Stefani's. It's white with pink shades, even her shoes (by Dior) were pink! Then, there were many other dresses, in different colours and shapes, with trains and beads and jewels! I saw Kate Moss's dress and even Camilla Parker Bowles's. It looks like a tunic, very simple but elegant.

So, if you're interested in fashion and you love wedding dresses this can be the exhibition for you, but beware if you're thinking of a big exhibition, it's not that big (I visited it in no hurry in 30 minutes, 40 max.) and admission costs 13.50£. The exhibition closes March 15, 2015.

Notturni - An Edwardian Tale 13.09.2014

Bonsoir my Victorians,

..allora, so di essere in ritardo ma volevo scrivere una breve entry sullo scorso picnic vittoriano di Victorian & Romantic Italian Revival! Si è svolto il 13 Settembre ed ero molto contenta perché era il giorno del mio compleanno! E' stato un gran bel modo di festeggiare! :) Per la prima volta si è cambiata location, perché questa volta il picnic si è tenuto nei giardini privati di Villa Carcano, Anzano del Parco (Co). Un posto bellissimo, con giardini, grandi alberi, la Villa privata e alcuni sentieri adatti per fare una camminata con le lanterne al calar del sole. Dopo la sistemazione nei giardini, Arianna & Alessandra ci hanno chiamato tutti di fronte alla Villa, dove si è svolta la lotteria, ma prima, sono stata chiamata davanti a tutti i presenti perché mi hanno augurato "Buon Compleanno"! E' stato davvero molto carino da parte loro e un momento molto imbarazzante per me, ma sono contenta.. :) Più tardi, abbiamo fatto delle foto, la foto di gruppo e alcune al photo corner curato da Reflex Studio. Tornati ai nostri cestini e tovaglie c'è stato il picnic e abbiamo acceso le lanterne. Man mano che la notte si faceva più buia, l'atmosfera diventava magica! Sono felice di aver trovato vecchie e nuove amicizie, specialmente la cara Francesca che si è presentata con un regalo per me (grazie ancora!!!!! <3) e Hasuno Hime (scusami ho dimenticato il tuo nome >.<) che ha voluto incontrarmi!!! Non potrei essere più felice riguardo questa giornata!
Sfortunatamente, non penso che riuscirò a partecipare al prossimo evento di Novembre a Parma, ma Francesca sarà la mia reporter! :) Inoltre, inizierò a pensare al nuovo abito per il prossimo Gala! Voi avete già qualche idea?

So, I know I'm late but I wanted to write a quick entry about the last Victorian Picnic by Victorian & Romantic Italian Revival! It took place in September 13, and I was so happy because it was my birthday! It was a great way to celebrate! :) For the first time the location changed, because this time the picnic took place in the private gardens of Villa Carcano, Anzano del Parco (Co). It was a beautiful place, with gardens, huge trees, the private Villa and some paths for taking a walk with lanterns when the sun set. After arranging our stuff in the gardens, Arianna & Alessandra called us all in front of the Villa, where we had a lottery but, before it, I was called in front of all the people because they wished me "Happy Birthday"! It was so nice of them and a very embarassing moment for me but, I'm glad.. :) Later, we had some pictures, a group shot and some photos at the photo corner by Reflex Studio. Back to our baskets and table clothes we had our picnic and we lit our lanterns. As the night went darker, the atmosphere became magical! I'm so happy that I could meet some old and new friends, especially my dear Francesca who came up with a beautiful present for me (thank you once again!!!!!! <3) and Hasuno Hime (sorry I forgot your name >.<) that wanted to meet me!!! I couldn't be happier about this day!
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to attend the next event in Parma in November but, Francesca will be my reporter! :) Besides, I'll start thinking about my new dress for the next Gala! Do you already have any ideas?
